Sam

I haven't blogged much? What you weren't reading anyway? It's ok, me neither. My nephew Sam was in a bad motorcycle accident. Liver lac, some tears to the intestine, 9 thoracic vertebrae fracturs, dislocated knee and a Le Forte 1 facial fracture, which required a trach/ jaw wiring. He also had some fractured ribs and pulmonary contusions. There was a point where he was on the roto bed 16+ peep- ARDS and Pulm. contusions/ pnuemonia FIO2 100%....and he was septic. We weren't sure he was going to pull through and had to do what we aren't good at in healthcare. Leave it up to God. God has plans for Sam and we get to spend more time on earth with him. It's a blessing. In this photo Sam is holding up the quilt (note musical instruments) Jim's sister Cathy made for him. It's a great souveneir from a wild trip. To God be all the glory (but don't tell the trauma doc) Univ. of Cincinnati and Drake did a great job!
