From 97 Seconds with God Blog
Jon is covering Proverbs 12.
Proverbs 12:11
He who works his land will have abundant food,
but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
I look out over my garden and am starting to see spring. I see some o the Stella D'Orro daylillies that I "rescued" from the front entry to our subdivision are growing. They have baby sprouts. It's exciting. I am buying cilantro & parsley seeds today. I look at magazines and dream of the someday garden. But I haven't picked up a shovel. Now while the soil is loose and wet, I watch the grass creep into the garden. I want the flowers, not the effort. This year I am going to be about the effort, not the flower and NOT my style. I go for the flower, all about the flower. All winter long I have kept my mandivilla flower ($45!) alive because I had to. It cost too much. It keeps trying to grow but I am reducing it's water so it holds back until it's time. I think God does that for us. He gives us just what we need until our time. Here is a picture of last year's mandivilla and how it looks now, while it's waiting. I get to water it this weekend and I am so excited for it. Does God get excited when he waters us? I think so.
