Knock, Knock. Who's There? Wesley. Wesley Who? Wesley Osler. "Mr. Ianniello, I was wondering if you maybe had like a.....um..... a fire extinguisher?" Insert deadpan expression/ flat affect here.
And the award goes to Wesley Osler for unflappability in a fire emergency.
Yesterday we made one of our favorite meals: Asian Pork Tenderloin. Jim, who was grilling, stepped inside for just a minute to watch the Michigan game. Or as Jim said "I was watching the MICHIGAN game, not even Ohio State!" I look out at the grill and it is heavily smoking. Jim lifted the lid and a fire ball came out towards him and Tater Tot (almost named Tater Not.)The grill was engulfed in flames. I sent William to the Ellis' and Wes to the Ianniello's for fire extinguishers. We ended up with 2 fire extinguishers and Rick pulling up a chair to watch the show and cheer us on. Luckily due to Wes' calm unhurried demeanor no extinguishers were harmed in the making of our dinner.
Oh what the heck here's the recipe (Just make sure your grill is CLEAN before making it and you have a fire extinguisher on hand....or good neighbors!)
Asian Pork Tenderloin:
1/4 cup Soy Sauce 3 Tbsp. brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. dried mustard 1/2 tsp. sweet paprika (I use regular)
5 cloves of garlic, minced 2 Tbsp. chopped cilantro, fresh
1 pork tenderloin trimmed 3/4 lb.
Mix all ingredients well, then add pork. Marinate in fridge 2 hours (we do overnight)
Grill and baste, discard leftover marinade.....extinguish fire.
